Inside the "subtle" package are all the pages of this blog up to this point. Also pictures of this years Boarders and a list of staff. They are all sealed into one length of thick laminate to make it all 100% waterproof.
This prospectus went into the box together with 3 newspapers for the day, a school crested shirt, some coins, an old school tie.... and a random white mug.
Hopefully the colour scheme will make them easy to spot! We'll put a plaque on the wall above them so
that those that demolish the building will know where to look.

Obviously this is a perfectly safe spot to put the Time Capsule.

And so they rest.... waiting for future generations to uncover. If Bolton building lasts as long as Brotherhood Hall..... that should be in around 400 years time!
Ah, now I understand the purpose of the detailed nature of this blog. Posterity. In another 400 year, should Christ tarry, the building methods will be greatly changed. Very cool, Tim.
ReplyDeleteSomething I have grown to admire and love about the British people directly through my relationship with Steyning Grammar (a school older than my own homeland) is the value of posterity. Training your eyes to take a long hard look at the past causes you to appreciate more deeply what and who have brought you the goodness you enjoy today. It also helps you to rise up and perform your tasks with excellence knowing that the future generations will benefit from your efforts. This is a powerful lesson that my own nation, young and impulsive and wonderful as it is, cannot offer its people. Thank you for teaching us the value of posterity in such a fun way, Tim.
How come that bullying tyrant never got the sack? I'm talking about John Loader BTW. So many people had kicked, punched and slapped. Not only did I have the misfortune of witnessing but also was one of the many recipients. I know I wasn't the only one to complain and I brought it to the head misstraster (sic, but on purpose) and nothing was done. There were no witnesses to the attack in my case but I had witnessed two other cases at least along with maybe 10 on one occasion and many times that amount on another. It is outrageous that nothing was ever done about it: we were not aware, any of us, if he received so much as a reprimand. And I don't know anyone who came out of that boarding school without a thorough disrespect for social authority, including the authority of law and government, except for Darren Dale but I think he had an intimate relationship with Mr Loaders backside, in the sense that he was constantly licking the letters arse.
